What KKOOAPP collects, why, and who can see it.
Last updated 17 September 2026
Your phone number, which is how you sign in.
The name and photo you choose for your profile, and anything else you add to it, such as a shop address or a social link.
Your listings: titles, descriptions, prices, photos, and the district, ward or map pin you attach to them.
Messages and offers you send through the app, and who they were sent to.
Which listings you save and which sellers you follow.
Your device's language, so the app can open in Swahili or English.
You choose a district, and you may drop a pin on a listing. If you allow it, the app also uses your phone's location to sort listings by what is nearest to you.
A pin you attach to a listing is shown to anyone who opens that listing, so place it near where you will meet rather than on your front door.
You can refuse location access and still use the app. You will pick a district by hand instead.
Your display name, photo, the listings you have live, and how long you have had an account.
Your phone number is not public. It is shown only if you turn on the WhatsApp or call option in your settings, and you can turn it off again.
Messages are between you and the person you are speaking to. We can read them where we need to act on a report.
We do not show ads, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Our servers and database are hosted in Frankfurt, Germany, and photos are stored with Cloudflare. This means your information is processed outside Tanzania.
Sign-in codes are delivered over WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta and handles your number under its own terms.
Listings expire 30 days after they are posted and can be relisted.
Messages and offers are kept while your account is open, so a conversation you come back to is still there.
You can delete your account from your profile at any time. Your profile is scrubbed, your listings come down and their photos are deleted, and your phone number is released so you could start again from scratch. A conversation you were part of stays in the other person’s inbox with your name removed, still showing the name of the item, because it is their record of a deal they may not have finished. Blocks and reports survive, because they exist to protect somebody else.
You can edit or delete a listing at any time, change or remove your profile details, and turn the contact options on or off.
You can block another user, which hides you from each other.
To delete your account, open your profile and choose Delete account. It happens straight away and cannot be undone. To see what we hold about you or to correct it, write to support@kkooapp.com.
KKOOAPP is not for people under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a child, we will remove it.
If we change how your information is used, we will say so in the app.
Questions go to support@kkooapp.com.
